task 2: How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

effective:

we kept the imagery of black and white throughout all the products.

evaluation question 1 notes

Screen shot 1:
As you can see in the first screen shot the title of the band and the song is revealed. This reveals to the audience who the band is and what song it is and many people are curious of what the song is called and who by.
Also, in the screenshot it contains the a shot of the back of the band walking towards a stage this creates suspense throughout the introduction because it builds up to the band playing.
Screen shot 2:

this was a match on action shot where we see the band from behind opening the door and coming through then the shot of them coming through the door. this worked effectively and contrasted well within the music video.
this also allowed the audience to see the bands faces as in the shot before they couldnt see the bands faces causing a sense of enigma and want them to watch on to see what they look like. this is an important part in a music video as the target audience will either start to relate or be attracted to the band members.
Screen shot 3:

this was another key shot in the music video as this is when the music finally kicked in and one of the first times we see them playing the guitar.
we thought this camera technique worked very effectively looking down the neck of the guitar as it is an interesting shot.
Screen shot 4:

The shot of the eye is a key part of the music video not only because it follows the narrative of the girl going to sleep and dreaming, but it also creates the notions of looking which we wanted to put in our music video as it is effective and the audience gets more involved.

Screen shot 5:

there are two shots on the screen dissolved into one another, the drummer and the narrative of the girl and the boy. this contrasted really well because you see the drummer beating to the music and the audience can also see what is going on at that time to, they both blended well and keeps it still enticing.
Screen shot 6:

this shot we used in a repition basis where it will be the boy walking behind the girl then the girl on her own which gives a shutter effect in the narrative.

Screen shot 7:

the shot of the eye repeats again because this is when the girl wakes up from the dream and it still uses the notions of looking. we wanted this to be a constant shot in our video as the dream and her falling asleep is the narrative itself so it was very important.
Screen Shot 8:

the last few shots before the ending was of the band walking away from their instruments.
this was

Screen shot 9:

this was the ending shot of our narrative which we wanted to make sure concluded it as we did not want to leave our audience with an unanswered story.
